On 25th November 2025, the Science Committee of Changu Kana Thakur Secondary and Higher Secondary Vidyalaya, New Panvel, organized a Makerthon Competition on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee Year (75th Birth Year) of Hon. Shri Ramsheth Thakur Saheb (Ex. M.P.), Chairman, Janardan Bhagat Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha, New Panvel (2nd June 2025 to 2nd June 2026) under the guidance of Respected Principal Mr. Prashant More Sir, Supervisor Mr. Ajit Sonawane Sir (Arts and Commerce) and Supervisor Mrs. Swati Patil Madam (Science).
The programme was further graced by the esteemed presence of dignitaries—
Mr. Kailas Satre Sir (Principal, C.K.T. Secondary Section),
Mr. Subhash Mankar Sir (Headmaster, Primary Section – Marathi Medium),
Mrs. Nilima Shinde Madam (Headmistress, Primary Section – English Medium),
Mrs. Vaishali Pardhi Madam (Supervisor, Primary and Pre-Primary Section – English Medium), and
Mr. K. K. Mhatre Sir (Supervisor, Marathi Medium).
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 35 groups comprising 132 students, showcasing the innovative spirit of our students. Students from XI and XII Commerce and Science streams actively participated in the event. The efforts of all participants were commendable, and the competition was judged by Mrs. Smita Bhalekar (M.Sc. in Cytogenetics and Biotechnology with B.Ed.) and Mrs. Keshari Bhoir (B.Sc. in Chemistry with B.Ed., D.S.M.) from Changu Kana Thakur Vidyalaya English Medium Secondary Section, New Panvel.
The Makerthon Competition Challenge focused on building a functional bridge using only ice-cream sticks and limited materials. The objective was to test participants’ ability to design stable structures, understand load distribution, and apply problem-solving strategies within a constrained environment.

The Makerthon Ice-Cream Stick Bridge-Building Challenge was a successful educational and creative event. Participants gained hands-on experience in structural engineering, developed teamwork skills, and learned the importance of planning and material efficiency.
The event successfully fulfilled its objective of encouraging innovation and a maker mindset among students. The anchoring was well-organized and contributed to a memorable Makerthon experience, led by Mrs. Smita Naik Madam.
